The Fifth Session of the Forum on Regional Climate Monitoring, Assessment and Prediction for Asia (FOCRAII) will be held at:

u     Accommodation and Meals

The LOC will only cover the lodging and food for some participants. There are no per diem available for any participants.

 

Hotel information

Block reservation has been made at Nade Hotel (4 stars).

Nade Hotel is located in the crossing of Huancheng North Road and Hushu South Road in the down-town of Hangzhou. It has flourishing Wulin Plaza in east and Hangzhou Municipal Government in west, fashionable Suit-Dress Street of the Wulin Road and beautiful West Lake in South. The location is the most valuable for Hangzhou tourism and business with convenient transportation. It only takes 10 min. to drive to Railway Station and 40 min. to International Airport. The hotel is business and tourism foreign-involved type of four-star standard with integrity of guest room, catering, entertainment, tourism and shopping.

Please be advised that all participants (including those receiving travel supports) must cover the cost of any extra room charges such as telephone, fax, laundry and mini-bar, etc.

 

Meals are served by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC).

 

The Chinese Character of Nade Hotel is written as 纳德大酒店. You may find it at the center of the map below.

u      International Travel

Participants are required to forward flight details (flight numbers, arrival and departure times & dates) to the travel agency consigned by FOCRAII Secretariat (sunyuan@cma.gov.cn) as soon as possible. This is a prerequisite for your hotel reservation and pick-up service.

u      Local Transportation

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is about 27 kilometers (about 16.8 miles) away from the downtown area of Hangzhou City.

Airport-Hotel -----4-5 April 2009 only

LOC members will meet you at the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport if you arrive on 4-5 April 2009. Look for a person holding a placard displaying the BCC and FOCRAII logos (see below). This person will guide you to Nade Hotel.

Airport-Hotel –----Arrival other than 4-5 April 2009

Arrivals on days other than 4-5 April 2009 must make their own way to the hotel. The following choices are available:

Taxi: Taxi is convenient at the airport. Depending on traffic conditions, it takes about 40 minutes from the airport to Nade Hotel. The charge is around 120 Yuan CNY (US$17), including the 10 Yuan RMB highway toll.

April 6, 2009 from 8:00-9:00 AM at the lobby of Nade Hotel

There is no registration fee.

u     Time zone

In relation to Greenwich, Hangzhou is +8 hours.

u     Electricity, internet and e-mail

The electrical voltage in China is 220V. Internet and E-mail are accessible for participants in Nade Hotel by broadband or telephone line. Internet and Email accession are also available at the conference venue.

u     Reconfirmation of airline ticket reservations

Please contact the front desk or business center of Nade Hotel if your need to call to reconfirm your airline ticket, or contact Local Organizing Committee (LOC) members to ask for help during the meeting.

u     Social events

The conference reception hosted by BCC/CMA will be held at 18:00pm in April 6, 2009. (Location to be decided). All participants and their accompanying persons are invited to join the reception.

u     Weather

The weather in Hangzhou during the conference will be fairly pleasant, but it is generally humid and rainy. During the first ten days of April, the average temperature is about 13.4℃; the mean maximum is 17.8℃ and minimum 9.9℃. The average precipitation during April is 126.6 mm with 15 days of rain.

u      Medical care and insurance

The conference secretariat will be on duty all day during the conference. Please contact the Secretariat or LOC members for first aid or medical care services. The medical fee should be borne by the patient.

Participants are strongly advised to arrange their own overseas travel insurance.

u     Identity badge

During the workshop, all delegates and their accompanying persons are kindly requested to wear the identity badge. The badge serves as a pass for meetings and meals.

If participants have any questions, please contact the LOC members who are identified by their red badges.

u     Currency exchange

The official currency in China is CNY (Chinese Yuan). Currency exchange centers can be found at airport, local banks. The currency exchange service also can be provided at the business center of the Nade Hotel.

Travelers’ checks are not widely used in China and are accepted only by major banks and some hotels. The Bank of China will cash your traveler check. The exchange rate for US$ and EURO fluctuate with time. Recent examples are:

u     Visa Application

Visas are required to enter to China. An official invitation letter for this application will be sent to those who have returned the Pre Registration Form.

 It may take some time to process the visa; therefore, you are encouraged to begin the visa application as soon as possible.
